What is it?

My favorite are the Canals with their ancient bridges, houses and narrow streets, lending a historic charm to our towns and cities. The Netherlands has countless cities with canals, many of which are particularly charming and well worth a visit. The most elaborate canal architecture however can be found in Amsterdam. It dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries, presenting itself like a gallery of honor over a total of 30 km. Along the canals you will find some of the city’s museums, cross streets with specialty shops and numerous café’s and restaurants.

Why do I like this place so much?

All of this may look like a pretty backdrop, but Amsterdam is not a museum. Life turns turbulent here. Amsterdam is a municipality that is constantly renewing itself. But If you want to escape city life, in a jiffy you are in the Amsterdam countryside with its quaint wooden houses, mills and cheese dairies.

My favourite restaurants:

Watergang : Amsterdam

The Raffles : Den Haag

Het Prentenkabinet: Leiden
